- AVS stands for Address Verification Service and is a service provided by payment brands to determine the match or partial match of a customer’s address information. This is a security measure in place to help prevent fraud by adding another layer of information needed for online transactions.
There are multiple reasons that you could receive AVS declines for transactions
- User Error
- The customer may have entered the information incorrectly
- Bank Unsupported
- Some banks do not support AVS, but this is very rare.
- Unsupported Region
- AVS is typically only used within the US, UK and Canada
